What do you use to take all the photo’s for your blog?
I use a Canon 500D which was the best purchase I ever made. I use the standard
lense here and there, but I mostly use my 50mm 1,4 lense.
I also take photo’s using my iPhone, especially for spur-of-the-moment shots – simply because my Canon is really big to carry around. If I know I’m going somewhere gorgeous, I will always bring my Canon. My next camera purchase will definitely be a great point and
shoot camera, for those impromptu moments.
Why did you start a blog and when?
I have been blogging on and off since the end of 2009, but only started writing regularly in March of 2012. I migrated my old posts from my tumblr blogs, spring cleaned everything and created a self hosted site. I started it to be an online photo album / story book for our family and friends who live overseas. When I began writing our stories, it just flowed.
This blog is a huge creative outlet for me, I am more careful when I take my photo’s, because I’m going to be sharing them with you, I experiment more with food, outfits, and my home. At the risk of sounding corny, my blog inspires me to be better at everything I do. I have discovered a passionI never knew I had. I have never been a big reader, or writer and I wasn’t the best at English grammar and literature at school. But this, I love.
I call it my hobby.
Why an English Bulldog?
Have you SEEN Banjoe’s face? Seriously though, we have always loved English Bulldogs, Nic inparticular. Before we even got married, we longed for a dog. At that stage we lived in a flat, so it really just wasn’t possible. Literally, as soon as we bought our house we started hunting for a pooch.
We are rather busy in life, we are social and we work hard. We don’t have time to walk a dog for 2 hours of a day and our house doesn’t have a huge garden. Besides loving the breed before finding out anything about it, the English bulldog turned out to be perfect for our lifestyle. I really think people should look into dog’s characters based on their lifestyle before getting one. Banjoe is lazy, he sleeps a lot, he is curious, weird and so lovely natured, he is extremely playful when not asleep, he ADORE’S children and he is just so handsome. Agree? We cannot get enough of him.
Banjoe is needy and clingy and loves to follow us around the house. He goes for a walk
to the dog park every single day after work to play with his friends.
I cannot describe to you how much joy he bring us.
Where did you get married?
We got married on a lovely farm in Kuils Rivier, Cape Town. Its a family run farm, it is not commercial and it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.
Its called Langverwagt.
