I had the *most amazing* day of spoilage at Langaro Lifestyle Center out in Camps Bay the other day. Kirsty, owner of Langaro, invited me to spend the morning with them to be pampered BEYOND MEASURE. I was treated to three of their maternity treatments which all make use beautiful Mama Mio products, an exquisite range that has been specifically designed for pregnant skin. I did a post a little while back on a few of my favorite products here. I will never forget the morning I spent at Langaro, I have not been that spoilt, ever. I’ve never really been one to spend much on pampering myself but now that I’ve had a real taste of the good life, there really is no going back.
Langaro Lifestyle Center is called a ‘Lifestyle Center’ for a reason. Langaro offer *way* more than just spa treatments. They offer personal styling with Duncan, who is just fantastic by the way, they do hair, make-up, fitness, wellness and beauty. Langaro is literally, your ‘GO TO DESTINATION’ for all things body / wellness related. The facility is incredibly upmarket, it’s seriously beautiful guys. The staff are SO friendly and accommodating and the whole place is really intimate. Langaro just offer so much at really reasonable prices.
Now back to my story.. It was a miserable and rainy morning in Cape Town but I have never been happier to get out of bed, knowing the treat I was in for. I was greeted by the lovely ladies at Langaro, offered a cup of fruit tea and while I filled in a client details form my lunch order was taken. The music that filled Langaro was peaceful and it was instant relaxation from the get go. I was then greeted by my therapist, Faseegah. Oh, how lovely she was.
Faseegah was so kind and as a mom herself she knew EXACTLY what I needed to make the experience incredibly comfortable. She showed me to the Deluxe Therapy room and gave me a beautiful gift from Langaro – a Mama Mio Gravida Candle. We burnt the candle throughout my therapy and oh my goodness, it smells like heaven and just does something special to your soul.
WIN ME WIN ME!!
Before I continue, I suggest you read about all these glorious treatments as you could WIN this *exact* experience from Langaro. A whole morning of spoilage for you and your beautiful belly, lunch and all. I know how much I needed it and how incredible I felt afterwards. We can’t wait to reward one of you beautiful mamas with this amount of spoilage, you totally deserve it. Trust me, I am now 38 weeks pregnant, I know what it’s like to be uncomfortable. Oh man, I really wish I could re-live this experience all over again.
It’s ALL in the detail:
The therapy room was the perfect temperature, I was cozy but not too hot, the music was incredible, soft enough / loud enough and it was NOT Enya!! Hooray! I am not joking when I say that I feel like I could have lived in there for a couple of weeks. The treatment rooms at Langaro are totally sound proof and speaking from past experience – hearing doors bang and people talking / walking in hall ways while you are just getting into the zone really has the potential to ruin your relaxation vibe. The room was lit to perfection, it was dark with a warm glow from the candles. I wish I would be there right now. I don’t like it when massage rooms are too light. It makes me feel self-conscious, especially because you’re *so* exposed. This was JUST right.
I was given a soft, fluffy preggy pillow which Faseegah helped me get comfy with on the massage bed. I love lying on my side when pregnant, as lying on your back when heavily pregnant is incredibly uncomfortable for more than 2 minutes and lying on your tummy is not an option obviously. PS: I have tried a pregnancy massage bed – it was AWFUL. It put so much strain on my lower back, I do not recommend it. I was offered a glass of water with fresh slices of cucumber and the spoilage began.
I was treated to *three* of Langaros’ maternity treatments, all combined into one. Here is a little bit about each one:
The Smoothie is FULL BODY exfoliation using Mama Mios Omega Body Buff product. Omega Body Buff rejuvenates and prepares the skin for the Omega Super Rich Body Cream which follows the exfoliation. This was so nice because it was exfoliating. Sometimes it’s really difficult to scrub your back, legs and arms properly, especially when pregnant. My skin felt brand new after the scrub, it got rid of all the dead skin and left me positively glowing – as a pregnant woman should be!
Mellow Mama is a FULL BODY massage using special pre natal techniques to you relax, increase circulation, alleviate tired muscles and reduce excess water retention. This treatment really focuses on massaging the *specific* muscles that are responsible for supporting your pregnant tummy – I just about floated out of that room after the massage. I felt as light as air. The products used for this included: Mama Mios Omega Massage Oil, a blend of 10 essential oils for tired and sore muscles. Another one of my favourite products used in this treatment is the Mama Mio Tummy Rub Oil and Butter which both contain Borage oil which strengthens stressed skin, ensuring the skin is able to cope with it’s changing needs – IE: it defends the skin against stretch marks. YAY! While I was having my massage, Faseegah soaked some cotton rounds with Mama Mios Relaxing Eye Compress and placed them on my eyes, it was cool and so refreshing. Relaxing Eye Compress is a combination on aloe vera, chamomile, ginko biloba and Japanese green tea extract. Just perfect.
After 1.5 hours of non stop spoilage I was then offered some strawberry infused rooibos tea and dried fruit to snack on and left to relax on my own for 15 minutes before I was escorted downstairs for the rest of my treatment. Half asleep at this stage, I floated like a cloud down the beautiful staircase at Langaro to the pedicure station.
Faseegah ran some hot water in the foot bath and I drowned my feet in Mama Mios ‘Lighten Up’ foot soak. Lighten Up, also by Mama Mio is rich in minerals and fragrance, and it reduces swelling as well as stimulates circulation. PERFECT for swollen preggy feet. I was then treated to an application of Mama Mios ‘Lucky Legs’ – a blend of essential plant oils that soothe, refresh, tone and reduce tired and swollen feet. If I could have this treatment after every day at work, I would be the happiest girl ALIVE. It was basically like another leg and foot massage, with beautiful smelling product which my skin was just SO happy to soak up.
Goodness me, if that was not enough – I was then presented a delicious lunch of healthy fruits and yoghurt. The perfect end to an incredible morning. Eating something too heavy and starchy would not have been ideal. I had some more strawberry rooibos and just sat there. I didn’t want to move, ever. I really had to FORCE myself to return to life.
